Designing For Children

In this talk, Mr Prasanth Nori introduces us to the innovative idea of using drama to teach children. He believes that drama not only allows children to express themselves but also enables learning in a way that classroom teaching never can. Prashanth Nori is responsible for bringing out the hidden artists and talents in young under-privileged children through his organization called Dramebaaz. Prashanth leveraged his background as a college thespian to build interest in the subject, speed up learning and encourage reflection about the students’ world. In December 2015, the group pulled off their inaugural show featuring 15 ten-minute original plays – written and performed by 150, third to fifth standard students from 15 schools in Hyderabad. Dramebaaz’s vision is to “use theatre to empower 1000 students with the essential life skills required to become confident and creative agents of social change.” He is Bringing out the hidden artists and talents in young underprivileged children through an organisation called Dramebaaz. Challenging the status-quo of how children learn, Dramebaaz is a program that uses theater as a tool to build essential life skills in children. Founded by Soumya Kavi and Prasanth Nori, Dramebaaz currently uses a variety of methods - ranging from design thinking to theater of the oppressed - to enhance creativity, confidence, self-esteem, problem solving and collaboration.
